Erik Morales workout pictures and quotes

EastSideBoxing, March 24, 2010

Morales: "Losing so much weight in recent months isn't going to affect me. For two and one-half months we worked a lot on the technical issues but we also made the best effort trying to achieve peak physical condition. I also mean that I was six months into the plan to establish a steady weight loss and here are the results. We planned to work hard to get into top form and I reached it."

Morales: "This is a good match against Alfaro. We know that he is very strong, but that's why we wanted to fight someone like him. I will not defraud anyone, let alone myself, and this is the optimal test. I will be the strongest, smartest and most experienced in the ring against Alfaro.." View pictures...

Donaire Vs Darchinyan II

The "Filipino Flash" Nonito Donaire will once again try to prove that his 5th round stoppage of "The Raging Bull" Vic Darchinyan last July 7, 2007 was no luck. The fight is almost at hand. Promoter Gary Shaw says he's just waiting for Vic Darchinyan's camp to approve the deal for the much-awaited rematch with WBA Interim champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire which Darchinyan had been shouting out for and claiming Donaire was scared to face him. "I gave them the proposal and now I’m waiting to hear from them", Shaw said.

The well known promoter confirmed that “most everything else between myself and Top Rank is done but Elias Nassar has to tell me it’s a go. They have not told me that yet.”

Arum told us “Donaire is going to fight a tune-up fight on May 15 and then he’s going to fight Darchinyan in Los Angeles at the Home Depot Center on August 7.” However, he still didn’t know who Donaire will fight in the tune-up bout.

Darchinyan recently won via unanimous decision over Mexican Rodrigo Guerrero who was fighting outside his country for the very first time. The fight lasted 12 rounds. Guerrero who had a record of 13-1-1 going into the fight was coming off a KO win over unheralded Rey Lopez last December 18. Prior to that he won a unanimous eight round decision over Luis Maldonado, the same fighter who was pulverized by Donaire and lost by an 8th round TKO in an IBF/IBO flyweight title bout in December 2007.
